Brussel Sprouts are one of my favorite dishes both with and without Bacon. This dish can be prepared both ways and is absolutely delicious either way. Here is a list of what you will need.
- Brussel Sprouts (2 Cups)
- Virgin Olive Oil (4 Tablespoons)
- Balsamic Vinegar (4 Tablespoons)
- Cheese (1/4 Cup)
- Thyme (Pinch)
- Salt and Pepper (Pinch)
- Bacon (Optional: 2 Strips)
(Optional) Place Bacon in the pan you plan to use for cooking the sprouts in. Bake at 375 degrees until crispy while preparing sprouts.
Preheat Oven to Bake at 375 Degrees.
Wash and trim the Brussel Sprouts, cutting off the brown bits and discolored stems.
Next, put a steaming tray in a large pot and fill with water until the water level is just below the steam basket on high heat. Steam the Sprouts for about 20-25 minutes.
(Optional) Take bacon out of the oven and crumble it or cut into smaller pieces. Place pan aside to bake sprouts.
Take the sprouts out from the steaming tray and cut them in half.
In a mixing bowl, drizzle the bottom with 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil, and 2 tablespoons of Balsamic Vinegar, season to taste with a pinch of Thyme, Salt, and Pepper. (Optional) Add bacon grease from the pan into the mixing bowl.
Mix cut Sprouts into seasoning mix.
(Optional) Add the bacon crumbs and stir with Sprouts and oil mixture.
Place mixture in cooking pan. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of graded cheese evenly over the sprouts.
Place in oven on top rack for 30-40 minutes.
Serve warm
